Termites
Of the wood destroying pests, Termites are the most feared. If left unaddressed, they can threaten the structural integrity of your home or business. The subterranean termite is a common termite who uses moist dirt to build tubes, connecting the soil with wood. If you find a swarm of termites outside after a rain, it is probably the Nevada Dampwood termite. They find a place to colonize, lose their wings, and the queen excavates an opening in wood to mate and lay her eggs. Generally, termites are attracted to moisture, and wood resting in moist soil is a great harborage for them.
